Terms of service

By accessing or using movingcost.net (the "Site") or submitting any information through it, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Site.

MovingCost provides a moving cost calculator, editorial guides, and a service that matches consumers with FMCSA-licensed moving companies. We are an information and matching service — we do not perform moves. We do not own or operate any moving trucks or crews.

Cost figures shown by our calculator are estimates only, calibrated against industry pricing data. The actual binding quote for your move comes from your matched mover, in writing, after the mover assesses your specific situation (in-home or video survey, exact inventory, etc.).

We make no warranty that our estimates will match your actual quoted or charged price. Real moving costs vary based on factors we cannot fully model (specific carrier pricing, fuel surcharges, special handling, accessorial fees, market conditions, etc.).

When we match you with a moving company, that company contracts with you directly. The mover's estimate, contract, performance, billing, dispute resolution, claims handling, and insurance coverage are solely the responsibility of the mover, not MovingCost.

MovingCostdoes not endorse, guarantee, or assume any responsibility for the conduct or services of any matched mover. We screen for active FMCSA Motor Carrier authority (a federal licensing requirement for interstate moves) but federal licensing alone is not a service-quality guarantee. Always read the full estimate, verify the mover's USDOT number at fmcsa.dot.gov, and request the federally-required disclosures (the Bill of Lading, Order for Service, and "Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move" pamphlet) before signing.

You must be at least 18 years old and a US resident (initially) to submit a lead through the Site. By submitting, you represent that you have the authority to make moving arrangements for your household and to share the details you submit.

By submitting our lead form, you authorize MovingCost to share your move details and contact information with one FMCSA-licensed mover for the purpose of providing you a binding quote. You consent to receive that quote via SMS and email per our Privacy Policy. Standard message and data rates may apply.

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent quote requests.
• Scrape, copy, or republish the Site's data, calculator output, or content without our written permission.
• Use automated tools to load pages or submit forms in volumes inconsistent with normal personal use.
• Attempt to bypass security or access controls, reverse-engineer the calculator, or interfere with Site availability.
• Use the Site to violate any applicable law, including TCPA, CCPA, GDPR, or anti-spam laws.

All Site content (calculator, methodology, guides, brand, designs) is owned by MovingCost or our licensors. You may use the calculator for personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, redistribute, or create derivative works from Site content without prior written permission.

The Site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate; that estimates will match real-world quotes; or that any matched mover will provide satisfactory service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MovingCost.net and its officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates are not liablefor any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages (including damages for lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or property damage) arising from or relating to your use of the Site or any matched mover's services, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the Site is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months (the Site is currently free, so the cap is $100).

You agree to indemnify and hold MovingCostharmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) submission of false or fraudulent information through the Site, or (c) your interactions or contracts with any matched mover.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

We may update these Terms periodically. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced via a banner on the Site. Continued use after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance.
